Simon K Barr, of Tweed-Media International, recently joined forces with renowned game chef Mike Robinson and the team from Hornady to film an unforgettable episode of Farming the Wild in Utah’s breathtaking fall wilderness. The shoot, which will air on the Outdoor Channel next year, captures the essence of the wild elk rut, the thrill of the hunt, and the art of turning a harvest into a culinary masterpiece.
Amidst vast landscapes and crisp autumn air, Mike harvested a majestic 10-year-old bull elk, fully in rut – a humbling and powerful experience for all involved. Simon shared his awe of the moment: “The natural beauty of the West provided a backdrop like no other.” Following the hunt, Mike Robinson demonstrated his expert culinary skills, transforming the elk into an extraordinary feast, exemplifying the core mission of Farming the Wild: honouring and celebrating sustainable wild food.
The entire adventure was made possible thanks to the incredible support from Hornady, with special thanks to Jason Hornady, Neil Davies, and Renae Waltemath. The camaraderie and shared passion for the outdoors made this a week to remember.
Following this wild Utah experience, Simon heads to Tennessee to compete in a two-day Precision Rifle Series (PRS) match. Teaming up with George Gardner, one of the founding members of PRS, Simon looks forward to the challenge, jokingly adding, “No pressure!”
Stay tuned for the premiere of this thrilling episode of Farming the Wild next year!
